OptWorks is a suite of non-gradient-based optimization tools for use within Phoenix Integration's ModelCenter collaborative design framework. Each driver component has a particular benefit or utility to different classes of problems. Each driver component has a particular benefit or utility to different classes of problems. The individual drivers in the current release are:

  • Genetic Algorithm (GA)
  • AutoGA - a simplified GA for non-experienced users
  • Simulated Annealing (SA)
  • AutoSA - a simplified SA for non-experienced users
  • Coordinate Pattern Search (with or without a Compass Search option)
  • Grid Search
  • Random Walk
  • Random Search

The optimization algorithms in the OptWorks suite complement the optional DOT® gradient-based optimizer in ModelCenter®, and are useful for a wide variety of complex optimization problems in which the design space may be non-smooth or discontinous or in which some or all of the independent variables may be integers instead of continuous variables.

Each of the algorithms in the suite is coded as a Java component and can easily be dragged-and-dropped into a ModelCenter® project file from a local or remote Analysis Server®.

Purchasing Information

Phoenix-Integration, Inc. serves as the primary reseller for Pi Blue's Optworks: ModelCenter and ProbWorks: ModelCenter products. For sales and pricing info, please contact blank or call Phoenix Integration at blank.

Individual and division-wide licenses are available. Individual-user licenses are priced at $1999.00 (one-time charge). Discounts are offered for site licenses. In addition, customers may choose to purchase an annual maintenance plan to receive free product upgrades and enhancements of our ModelCenter® versions. Maintenance-plan customers receive limited Technical support (Tier 1 and Tier 2) and may request on-site product training seminars (for an additional fee).

More Information

For more information, see our OptWorks: ModelCenter PDF flyer.

Or download a copy of the presentation entitled "Non-Gradient Based Optimization Using ModelCenter and OptWorks" given online March 25, 2003. The presentation includes the following topics: introduction to the ModelCenter environment, overview of the OptWorks suite of components, sample case studies of various problems that have used OptWorks, and demonstration of an OptWorks case study to justify technological investment.
